Classic vs. Hybrid vs. Signature Lash Extensions: How to Choose
If you’ve been looking at our lash extensions menu and feeling unsure which is right for you—classic, hybrid, signature—I’m going to break it down.
First, let’s talk about the two lashing techniques we use.
Classic lash extensions are where we apply one extension to each natural lash.
Volume lash extensions are where we hand-make fans using multiple very thin extensions and place them on a single natural lash, essentially creating more lashes where there was one.
It’s also worth mentioning that all sets are fully customizable: lengths, extension diameter, curl, and placement are all fair game.
Classic Lash Extensions
Classic lash extensions are that one-to-one application. The result is longer, more defined lashes that still look like yours. Clean and pretty, with some fullness if you want it, but not dramatic. At Iris+West, our classic full set starts at $180 for synthetic and $240 for silk.
The Signature Set
Our Signature Set is our most popular lash service in Los Angeles, and honestly it makes sense why. It’s a classic base with volume fans sprinkled throughout. If you’ve had a classic set and always wished it was just a little more, this is your answer. The ratio of mostly classic to volume fans gives you extra fluffiness, texture, and a touch more density without going full-glam. That “my lashes but better” look. Starts at $200 synthetic, $265 silk.
Hybrid Lash Extensions
Hybrid lash extensions go a step further. We use mostly volume fans to create a fuller, darker, and more dramatic set. If you’ve ever wanted an eyeliner effect, hybrid is your girl. We also occasionally do hybrid sets for people who want a natural look but have very sparse or weak lashes, since the volume fans let us build fullness without overburdening the natural lash. Our hybrid full set is $275.
How to Choose
The right choice usually comes down to what you want your lashes to look like, but we always keep your natural lashes in mind and help figure out what’s best both aesthetically and for lash health. Fine or sparse lashes can really benefit from hybrids or the Signature Set, and already-full lashes sometimes just need the length so classic can be a great option. We always take a look before we start and work it out together.
